OUR THING
It only takes a little bit of mustard to change the nature of a sandwich and our mustard comes in three flavours to help make whatever sandwich you’re eating right now taste that little bit better. CHESTAN ROCK & PROJECT TRULOCO have grown from the roots laid down by THE FIT BOX and all three share the core values of making real world applicable education, training, coaching, and support, available, accessible and attainable.
We believe that we should seek to surround ourselves with people who make us better, but that we must also be the person who makes others better. The group does not exist without the contribution of the individual. Ours is a collective of like minded people who come together to get better, sometimes even to suffer in order to do so. Our interest is not in what you can already do, but in helping you discover what you are capable of.
From physicality comes self-discovery, innate belief and an earned confidence that can fill life with purpose and opportunity. The body does not transform, it reflects the condition and the will of the mind – the health of both intrinsically linked. Here we foster a culture of community, and a shared commitment to the development of self-knowledge, for the mind is where great things begin, the body just follows.
club
Inspired by family, community, the TV shows Cheers and ER, and martial arts movies of the 1980s and 90s, we opened our doors on January 4th 2010, as a Small Group Training Club, offering 100+ bespoke classes a month to a local membership based in and around Bracknell Forest. Following is the story in Coach Mustard’s own words:
“October 2009, the clocks went back, and it got dark. Less than 6 months earlier I had made the decision to take my Personal Training business outside, and taking my Personal Training business outside had seemed like a good idea at the time, but at the time it wasn’t dark. Like most men when presented with a challenge or obstacle in life, I took myself off for a spa day. Depressed at the thoughts of all the things I couldn’t do, I climbed in to the giant hydrotherapy pool and began to think about all the things I wanted to do. Not one to shy away from thinking big, I decided that I wanted to create a new kind of gym, and change the world. Over the course of the time I spent in the hydrotherapy pool, the steam room, the sauna, the relaxation pool, and even the penguin flavoured plunge pools, I conceived the idea of a Small Group Training Club alongside a Professional Education Provider called, THE FIT BOX.”
education
In 2011 we ran our first public education event, a full day bootcamp lead by specialists in health, fitness, nutrition and physical therapy, and followed this in 2012 with our first residential fitness weekender.
In 2013 we wrote the UK’s first Small Group Training Certification, gaining professional accreditation under the then UK Register of Exercise Professionals and Skills Active, where we maintained an official rating of outstanding.
This lead to our partnering with the Life Fitness Academy in 2014, supporting Blackburn with Darwen Council with staff training in 2015, and in 2016 we accepted our own first cohort of Personal Training Instructor candidates, as well as delivering our first workshops for the LFA internationally at a multi day event in Egypt. In 2017 we delivered workshops in Europe and the Middle East. 2018 and 2019 saw us in the sky a lot as we returned to Egypt, popped over to Taiwan, and spent multiple weeks on tour delivering Hammer Strength Clinics across India.
In 2020 we launched a public health programme called Club Corona, and since 2021 we have dabbled in podcasting, presented a public health programme on the BBC, partnered with the Pocket Rocket Academy, and delivered our Tactical Athlete Programme for an Airport Fire & Rescue Service we have supported for more than a decade.

Over the years, our very fit and uncommonly lovely members and students have taken part in numerous challenges, competitions, pancake races, broken records, survived pandemics, and attended picnics, theatre productions, movie nights, Christmas dinners, product launches, quiz nights, a couple of discos, and started their own businesses, families, and enterprises, but most of all, they have forged genuine, trusted, and lifelong bonds and friendships.
Alongside the club and the academy, we have entered a range of races and events across the UK as, TEAM MAGNIFICENT, accepted SPEAKING invitations in schools, colleges and workplaces, created a total fitness programme for the public called BAMBAM, started the FIZZYCOOL Podcast (which will return), developed a junior leadership programme called the GAS Coach, and made available resources to keep small children active and healthy under the banner, LITTLE FITTIES. Our desire is to remain a community based fitness provider but this sits alongside the aspiration to make a wider impact on the health and well-being of people on a societal level.
Our work and our focus are dynamic and far reaching, our goals steadfast and unwavering, our desire to do good as strong as it has ever been.
friends
Along the way we have developed relationships with a range of organisations in the capacity of training solutions partner, writing and delivering education directly to our partners staff, members, and customers. In addition to those shown, we have supported professional staff and student development for the YMCA, RAF, Met Territorial Support Group, Local Authorities, CPD Training Providers, Schools, Colleges, National Fitness Conventions, and Specialist Aviation Fire & Rescue Teams.
Our longest standing partnerships are with the Life Fitness Academy, for whom we have written and delivered education across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland since 2014, and Hammer Strength, who have invited us to design and deliver specialist clinics across India, North Africa, The Middle East, and Taiwan.
We are forever grateful for the friendships we have made and the trust and confidence they have and continue to put in us.
chestan rock
Strength & Conditioning (S&C), is the science informed application of exercise and training interventions used to develop, and sustain, specific physical qualities and the ability to express them. S&C can play a critical role in athletic performance, resilience, and longevity, and in fields as seemingly diverse as sport, musical theatre, physiotherapy, recreational activity, emergency responders, astronautics, and the military.
CHESTAN ROCK was born from a desire to add mental resilience, greater accessibility and community to our S&C offering, to connect with and provide tools and support for those forging their own paths, to build and rebuild warriors, to be the reason that nobody has to feel alone, to be a part of your team.
CHESTAN ROCK is a trauma informed athletic training club, and we aim to provide services and information that support even those in their darkest moments, offering light and understanding just as readily as we do sweat and effort.

Countdown to Next Mission:
truloco
PROJECT TRULOCO is a shared human journey through trauma, powered by TRUth, LOve & COurage, to support and promote the learning, connection, and resilience needed to endure the most difficult moments.
Like all stories, there will be some chapters, and we will share these here on the website, but also via our Project Truloco YouTube Channel where we hope to record and film each adventure into the human capacity for survival in a series of videos.
PROJECT TRULOCO will cover a range of challenging and sensitive topics that may as a consequence result in emotional discomfort. Please engage with this content at your own pace; it’s ok to hit pause and return later, it’s ok to feel these emotions, and it’s ok to ask for help.
One of the buttons at the top of the PROJECT TRULOCO page will take you to a broad range of links for support across a number of charities and services. We don’t have all the answers and we can’t promise finding them will be easy, but we want you to keep looking, to keep the faith, to keep going.
questions
#1 What is THE MUSTARD CLUB?
THE MUSTARD CLUB is the umbrella name under which THE FIT BOX, CHESTAN ROCK, and PROJECT TRULOCO sit. Though these three outlets of physical expression share a clear and strong DNA, they are each different in their own right: a professional organisation focusing on health & fitness, a dedicated strength & conditioning offering for athletic pursuits, and a social impact mission to support those facing difficult moments. The name comes from the observation that, it only takes a little bit of mustard to change the nature of a sandwich, a connective thread that runs through everything we do.
#2 What is THE FIT BOX?
THE FIT BOX is a professional organisation focusing on health & fitness. We began as a small group training club in 2010, and have subsequently become a global education provider, delivering bespoke and accredited workshops, courses, seminars, and qualifications. Our work is balanced between offering services to both the fitness industry and the general public.
#3 What is CHESTAN ROCK?
CHESTAN ROCK is a dedicated strength & conditioning offering for athletes. Our S&C programme is holistic in nature and maps most closely to needs of the recreational, sub-elite and operational athlete – that doesn’t mean we won’t take your call if you’re in the NBA/Premier League/Team GB, but our primary drive is making professional S&C available to non-professional atheltes.
#4 What is PROJECT TRULOCO?
PROJECT TRULOCO is a social impact mission that exists to support those facing difficult moments. This is primarily a YouTube based project, where we aim to share honest human experiences and reflections on trauma, grief, and mental health – guided by TRUth, LOve & COurage. It is our hope to bring awareness, and promote learning in order to reach and connect with those living with challenges that might become more bearable with greater understanding, connection, and community.
#5 Are you a GYM?
We have a gym, in which we offer private one to one and small group training, in person coaching, and sports massage therapy. Availability is limited and for the most part by invitation only. The nature of our gym offering is dynamic and we will provide updates as and when what we offer changes.
#6 Can I book onto a COURSE?
Yes. And no. We provide in-house training for gyms, schools, colleges, health clubs, and professional organisations, and do not currently offer any published courses for public access. However, our online courses are available to all and are accessible from anywhere you have access to the internet.
#7 When are you OPEN?
Our office hours are 09:00-17:00 Monday-Friday, course start/finish times and private sessions will be agreed on booking.
#8 Are you on SOCIALS?
Yes, and you can find us @thefitbox @chestanrock & @projecttruloco
#9 Should I take a ladder to the GYM?
